Right now probably 75% of our cars come in on flats. We also do gondolas, which is the greatest advantage to the Pettibone (Cary-Lift) because a gondola is a box style car. The old-school way with our articulating loader was we had to get into the car personally, wrap bands around the pipe and load it up with the forks – which is very unsafe. The Pettibone is a great advantage that we have when it comes to the gondolas. When you have to dip down inside of the cars to pinch the pipe out and bring it back out safely without it all falling, it is a great convenience to have.

We specialize in exporting manufactured goods overseas. Historically most of our Pettibone work has gone into Algeria. They have some of the longest pipeline systems in the world. Because of all the pipelines, they have a lot of pipe yards, so our focus with Pettibone has been the pipe handling machines (Cary-Lifts). The operators look at a Pettibone product as one, making them safer, and two, helping them do their job more efficiently.
